Leo Lopez
President and CEO

Leo Lopez has been Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of ESI since he founded the company in 1989.    ESI’s focus on solutions for the revenue cycle industry has brought about the recovery of over $5 billion for healthcare organizations over the past decade.  ESI has been a pioneer in the healthcare industry for patient eligibility advocacy programs, managing difficult public and private business solutions for large safety-net and university hospitals, as well as performing partial and full business process outsourcing for administrative and revenue cycle management.  Responsibilities include development and advisory of strong board of directors; provide fundamental advocacy and promote the organization and stakeholders change related to the organizations mission, and support motivation of employees in the organizations products, programs, and operations.

Mr. Lopez has over 38 years experience in the healthcare industry in a variety of senior executive positions:  Chief Executive Officer University Hospital – UMDNJ; Hospital Corporation of America; Chief Operating Officer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; Associate Administrator at Stanford University Hospital & Clinics; Administrator, Department of Clinical Laboratories Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and Washington University Medical Center.  In addition, Mr. Lopez worked in Healthcare Finance on Wall Street as Vice President and Regional Manager for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation, TX and Vice President, Healthcare Finance Group, NY.  Mr. Lopez has a BS in Business Administration, Masters in Healthcare Administration, and Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, and Certification in Medical Technology from Northwest Texas Hospital.  Mr. Lopez currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for ESI, MediClaim, Inc., Savoy Senior Care, and Estill Medical Technologies, Inc.


Lisa I. Riding
Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Lisa Riding serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for ESI, where she has been instrumental in ESI development and expansion, and played a lead role in the development and implementation of the company’s strategy to focus its operations on select markets that offer the potential for higher rates of growth.   Her priorities are to build the brand and market awareness associated with the founding of the Revenue Cycle outsourcing industry, build a demand for the ESI range of services by focusing on ESI programs that drive cash improvement, consolidation, integration, risk reduction and increased efficiencies for our healthcare providers.

In Ms. Riding’s 5+ years with MedAssets prior to joining ESI, she has focused on development strategies in the Western United States, Corporate Health Systems, and key vendor relationships.  She has been the executive-in-charge of over 300 revenue cycle programs including several corporate clients such as Catholic Healthcare West, Banner Health, Adventist Health, Alegent Health, Sutter Health, Norton Health, Sun Health, Legacy Health System, St. Joseph Health System, Tucson Medical Center, Ascension Health and Ministries, and multiple other projects including 200 charge master projects, 10 corporate standardization programs, over 500 Comparative Rate Modeling Programs, and several 200 Charge Capture Audit Programs.

Prior to joining ESI, Ms. Riding served in a number of executive positions including:  MedAssets Net Revenue Systems as Principal and Regional Vice President; Chief Operating Officer of Managing Partners and Advanced Healthcare Solutions; Fraud and Abuse Specialist for the OIG focused on hospital compliance; Executive Director for HMI Inc. focused on charge master and revenue cycle programs; Director of Education and Clinical Services of the  AAPC focused on continuing education for physician and hospital HIM professionals; Senior Medical Consultant  for Medicode focused on coding, reimbursement, managed care contracting and continuing educational programs; and Surgical Services at the University of Utah.   Her commitment to excellence and ongoing educational experience is evidenced by her many degrees, certifications, and professional accomplishments.  Lisa has a large amount of industry recognition for her frequent participation and speaking engagements at national conferences for the HFMA, AHLA, AAPC, AHIMA, and other industry educational events and programs focused on revenue cycle management, reimbursement, coding, and medical management.  

In addition to  her position at ESI, Lisa is very involved and committed to helping move forward the mission of the Meals on Wheels Association of America Foundation to feed more seniors, The Health Careers Foundation, a non-profit organization providing scholarships and low interest loans to non-traditional students pursuing a degree in the healthcare field, and Women Executive Leadership, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to increase the number of women on corporate boards by recognizing and connecting accomplished women and future expanding their influence within their respective business communities.


Douglas Elwell
Executive Vice President

Doug Elwell services as the Executive Vice President for ESI, where he oversees the company’s Federal, State and County Government Services, Safety-Net and Public Provider Services.  Mr. Elwell is responsible for strategy, management, operations and business development for this business.  Services include programs that increase cash flow and funding such as Disproportionate and Medicaid Upper Payment Limit Payments, Federal Capital Funding, Indigent Charity Care Funding, Public Health Funding, and Third Party Administrative Services.   The Government and Public Services group of ESI has built a reputation in the Public Health System, Municipal corporations, Public hospitals, Public Health Departments, County Hospital and Health Districts, and Community Health Networks and Providers for unsurpassed professional services performance.     

Prior to joining ESI, Mr. Elwell was a Principal of Health Management Associates (HMA), responsible for the financial aspects, consulting, and special projects for many hospitals, counties, and state entities.  Among his clients were Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Maricopa Integrated Health System in Phoenix, the State of Indiana, the State of Louisiana, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, San Francisco County, Catholic Healthcare West, HHC, and community Projects in Kansas City.   Mr. Elwell as served as the President of Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) of Marion County, a municipal corporation operating the largest public hospitals and public health department in the State of Indiana. In this role he significantly increased health care-related federal revenues from various sources to HHC and the State of Indiana.   With over 30 years of experience, Doug has held various positions with private hospitals and health systems including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer, during this time he development expertise in managed care, hospitals operations, and finance.   He also held a Nurse Home Administrator license as part of his duties.  Highlights of career include: Ancilla Systems, Inc., Vice President of Managed Care; St. Joseph Community Hospital, and St. Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Chief Executive Officer; St. Elizabeth Hospital, Chief Financial Officer; Michigan Health Care Corporation, Controller; Brown & Root Inc. Senior Internal Auditor; and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co, Senior Auditor.   He started his career in Public Accounting and auditing for healthcare entities and publicly held corporations.   Mr. Elwell holds a B.B.A, from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI and M.S.A. from the University of Notre Dame, IN.

Mr. Elwell currently sits on the Board of Indiana Primary Health Care Association, National Association of Public Hospitals (Treasure), Greater Indianola’s Progressive Committee, and YMCA.


Claudia Garlitz Forrest
Senior Vice President, Business Development

Claudia Forrest serves as Senior Vice President for Business Development, Research and New Program Development that is instrumental to strategic growth at ESI.   Her responsibilities include building the Revenue Cycle Management Business Process Outsourcing Programs, providing key research to governmental programs, key involvement in tactical and strategic product planning.

She joined the ESI executive team in 1998, after providing managed care consulting services for more than 30 years.  Her focus has included governmental programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIPs, and Medicare Part D.  She has been instrumental in the development and implementation of business processes for the accurate capture of health care services delivered to these special populations and the appropriate and timely billing of services.  Claudia lead the development and technology team in the creation and delivery of a unique pharmacy billing application uniquely designed for Medicare Part D providers without retail pharmacy technology capabilities.

Prior to joining ESI, Claudia provided independent managed care consulting services and served as Senior Consultant with The Pace Group, a national managed care consulting firm, working with over 40 managed care plans across the country including private for-profit, non-profit, provider-owned, payor-owned and governmental based health care programs.  Claudia’s expertise includes feasibility analyses, development and implementation, re-organization, marketing, and benefit strategy.  She has served on a national Medicare Committee addressing barriers to managed care; served as chairperson for the State of Michigan Governor’s Conference on HMOs, and is an active participant in many healthcare industry organizations, forums and associations.


Kimberly McNary
Senior Vice President, BPO Operations

Kim McNary joined ESI as Senior Vice President for BPO Operations.  As such, Kim oversees all of the ESI Operations, BPO and CBO Activities, Revenue Cycle Services, Customer Support/Client Services, Product Development, and Implementation Services.   Her responsibilities include developing leadership, training, and accountability for all the various functions of ESI businesses.  

Kim has more than 20 years of BPO Operations, training management, six sigma, operations, claims editing systems, Medicare compliance, consulting, program and process design, and implementation services experience. Prior to joining ESI she served in many management roles with Tenet Healthsystem in multiple locations across the nation, including Philadelphia, PA,  Boca Raton, FL, Frisco, TX and most recently, Dallas, TX.  Positions included Director of BPO Process and Training for hundreds of regional business office employees; Director of Operations for Medicare CBO and RBO based business office functions.  She also brings a wealth of experience is developing training programs, coordinating interface and communications between IT, operating departments and clients as VP of Operations and Customer Service for HealthLogic Systems. 


Damitia Boyd-McKinney
CPA Controller

Damitia Boyd-McKinney serves as Controller for ESI.  She oversee all financial operations, internal and external reporting, treasury management and ensures compliance with all financial and contract reporting requirements.   She is also responsible for preparation and coordination of budgets/forecasting, cash projections and internal controls to assure safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements.

Ms. Boyd-McKinney has over 30 years of experience in the financial arena.  She has worked in management of corporate offices with both domestic and international operations.  She has also work as a consultant to small and medium size business in establishing their accounting departments, developing policies and procedures for internal controls and financial reporting.

Damitia received her Bachelors of Science degree in accounting from Tennessee State University and has been a licensed CPA since 1986.  In her spare time mentors with various youth groups and is an avid girls basketball supporter.


George A. Angrick
Senior Vice President, Medical Electronic Logistics Group

George has worked with ESI since 2003 and is responsible for the transactional data interchange of the ESI modules and for integration of our processes with Client legacy systems.  As the Director of Electronic Data Interchange, George’s role is crucial to the technological and data capture aspect of ESI’s services.  George is also responsible for overseeing and developing processes that are designed to enhance Client systems and performance.  His role makes it possible for literally millions of transactions to be processed for various hospital, manufacturing, and transportation Clients.

Prior to joining ESI, George was the Chairman and Founder of Medidal Corporation, which specialized in moving paper documents and transactions to electronic interchanges.  He was instrumental in building a business that was surrounded by the philosophy of moving Clients to paperless environments and enabling disparate systems to talk to each other.  

Previously, George held the position of Director of Imaging Services at Indiana University and he was the founder and CEO of Media Services, which became the largest publication vendor to the Allison Division of GM.   George has also done extensive work for the United States Joint Chiefs-of-Staff and he has several patents pending on equipment and computer processes.  George currently serves on the X12 Industry Standards Committee and holds degrees in management, accounting, and statistical analysis from Indiana University.


Anita Grimmer
Chief Technology Officer, Medical Electronic Logistics Group

Anita brought her talents to ESI in 2003 and her specialty focuses on the integration of hardware and software in the areas of control and communication.  Anita’s role focuses on real-time systems and solutions, and acquisition and delivery of critical information using currently evolving technologies. 

Prior to joining ESI, Anita was the Chief Technology Officer at Medidal Corporation.  She was instrumental in development and implementation of data and computer processes that enabled Clients to run, store, manipulate, and process tremendous amounts of data electronically.  Previous to her tenure at Medidal, Anita held executive technology positions at prestigious firms such as Harley-Davidson, Trane, and GE Medical.  Her responsibilities included design, assembly and distribution of proprietary computer systems, data collection and integration, and quality control.  Anita has extensive hands-on experience with robotic systems and mechanisms and played crucial roles in implementing these high-tech devices.  Anita also worked in an integration environment to bring diagnostic hardware, software, and network capabilities to life for medical technology organizations.


Andrew Behrens
Senior Programmer & Engineer, Medical Electronic Logistics Group

Andrew joined ESI in 2006 and is responsible for all engineering projects related to technology components of healthcare service delivery infrastructure, including network security, software and database development, and systems integration.  Andrew is responsible for maintaining technical expertise and providing Client-centric solutions for operations and system implementation.  Andrew’s areas of expertise include hardware design and fabrication, building of search engines and databases, eligibility operations, pharmacy operations, and Medicare functions.

Prior to joining the ESI team, Andrew was a Senior Operational Engineer at Medidal Corporation.  In his previous positions, he was responsible for developing algorithms and creating analytical reporting methodologies.  He was accountable for maximization of reimbursement outcomes based on his design and development of various system cascades and protocols.  Andrew attended the Universities of Alabama and Wisconsin.


Andrew Angrick
Senior System Architect & Engineer, Medical Electronic Logistics Group

Andy joined ESI in 2006 and is responsible for all aspects of internet, web, and program application and development.  As the Director of Web and Application Development, Andrew is responsible for developing Client-specific and industry-standard web-based OCR workflows and technologies capable of reading unstructured documents.  As a recognized expert in web and application development, Andrew is a creator of high-end internet business service sites and currently has a patent pending.   He is also responsible for the creation of automated billing and coding workflows and for the creation of processes to extract data from paper and turn it into an automated procedure. 

Prior to joining ESI, Andrew was a member of the executive technology management at Medidal Corporation.  He was responsible for creating capabilities which would enable the capturing, compression, encryption, and transferring of document images to the Medidal processing system.  Andrew played an intricate role in the implementation of thousands of web sites worldwide.   Andrew’s experience is extensively rooted in healthcare data management and he has a wealth of experience in building and implementing automated systems, centralized claim queues, and web-based technology.

Andrew’s work experience encompasses heavy data and technology background with organizations such as the State of Illinois, Galyan’s, and John Deere.


Robert DeLucia
Senior Director, Data Management, Project Consultant, Medical Electronic Logistics Group

Bob has worked with ESI and its Clients since 2003, and has played an important role in the delivery of healthcare systems to our Clients.  He has over 30 years experience in the healthcare industry, and is responsible for development, implementation, and support of Client proprietary accounting and financial systems. 

Robert has in-depth experience in strategic planning, analysis, project management, and execution.  He is responsible for supporting Clients in a Patient Financial Service and Business Office environment. 

Prior to joining ESI, Robert held key finance and technology positions at Medidal Corporation, Stroger Hospital of Cook County, and Englewood Community Health Center.  His responsibilities as Systems Manager and Project Leader included building and implementation of registration and patient accounting systems and functions, modification and training on application software, and management of operational centers.  Robert also possesses a wealth of experience in consulting and project planning and brings a fresh, IT perspective to addressing healthcare and system needs for our Clients.


Clifford E. Perry
Director, Medicaid Eligibility Operations

Clifford Perry has been the Director of Medicaid Eligibility Operations since he joined the company in 1991.  His responsibilities include planning, organizing and directing the activities that convert hospital self-pay cases to revenue-generating Medicaid-eligible accounts. 

Prior to joining ESI, Mr. Perry served as Patient Account Director at Chicago’s Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital (now Rush), Michael Reese Hospital, and Houston’s St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.  Mr. Perry has a BS in Business Administration from Loyola University and a Master’s in the Management of  Public Services from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.  He has over 30 years of progressive experience in the field of Revenue Cycle management and is a current member of HFMA.  Cliff earned his certification in the management of patient accounts in 1987 and has worked on several HFMA committees.



Diane T. MacElree
Site Executive, Special Projects 

Diane T. MacElree joined ESI as Senior Project Director responsible for project management, implementation activities, detailed operational assessments, training and process enhancements during client engagements.

Ms. MacElree brings 30 years of healthcare revenue cycle experience to our clients. Most recently as Director of Patient Financial Services for an outsourcing firm, she mentored management staff in the implementation of system enhancements, staff training and analysis of accounts receivable for multiple hospital clients achieving cash receipts at or above cash goals and reducing aged receivables greater than 90 days, from greater than 35% to 15% for multiple hospital clients. She also transitioned processes off shore by developing and managing the work plan, training and mentoring off shore managerial staff.

Previously, as a principal consultant for Siemen’s Medical, Ms. MacElree provided interim management for revenue cycle enhancement projects focusing on appropriate charge capture, registration accuracy and liquidation of receivables for numerous clients across the country. By evaluating and organizing management and staffing, she maximized efficient work flow and integration with automated processes.  Ms MacElree provided assertive transition management skills for system upgrades, conversions and distressed financial situations. She served as a revenue cycle resource for the sales team and clients.

Ms. MacElree has twelve years of operational experience in the acute hospital setting. She was employed by the University of Pennsylvania Health System, a four hospital system with over 3,000 physicians. While in the acute care setting, Ms. MacElree served as hospital liaison for implementation of numerous successful system installations and upgrades.

Ms. MacElree is a seasoned conference presenter and is a Certified Patient Account Manager (CPAM) through the American Association of Healthcare Management (AAHAM).
